The Next Chapter

As we walked from one place to another today, I realized that none of these places are famous. Most people pass them every day without giving them a second thought. But to me, each one has become special because every one of them reminds me of a life that led to you.

The Hornet’s Nest reminds me that our story was built over ordinary mornings and ordinary conversations. The Supply Pond reminds me that in spite of not knowing how it would all work out, we wanted to promise our hearts to each other. The Bubble reminds me that even in the middle of all the uncertainty, we made a refuge from it all where we could just be together.

The little cottage reminds me of the woman who chose to step into an uncertain future because she believed there was something better waiting for her. The apartment brings me back to some of our sweetest memories and where we really became who people know as us. And standing here reminds me of one of the happiest moments of my life, because this is where you said yes.

Every difficult season, every unexpected turn, every ordinary day, and every unforgettable moment has led us to the life we’re living today. Somehow, God has taken all of those chapters and woven them into a story that is better than anything I could have imagined.

Now we can head home, put on something nice, and celebrate the amazing woman you are. I have a table waiting for us at River Tavern in Chester, and I’d love nothing more than to spend the rest of your birthday doing what I’ve loved from the very beginning. Simply being with you.

Happy 65th Birthday, Baby. I’m so incredibly glad you were born and that you are “MIND”. I love you with all my heart and more.
